Indianisation of Western World

India is a land where uniqueness lays the foundation of its existence ; the serenity lies in the vast snow capped mountains ; the myriad of flavours drool one's mouth, the land of seven geographical sisters, a country whose beauty is latent under the nature's bounty; a land of variety of languages, whose art and literature is to be well remarked ; In short, a land of mosaic of multiplicities.

But, in spite of such highly promising and conspicuous realms of India, the sad part is that Indians are less bothered about preserving such highly oriented culture and heritage. Moreover, the people who get involved into preserving the heritage of the nation are, apparently, the nonnatives of India and contrarily, that's the most interesting part.

Well, now a days, we could find that people arrive in India in order to explore more about the dance forms such as Kathakali, Bharathnatyam, Odissi etc and to incur more knowledge in that sphere. Some of them are even engrossed in pursuing their career in Indian dance forms. Thus, the Indian dance forms have gained world wide acceptance, despite the flexible, yet challenging nature. It has not only helped the dancers receive spiritual emancipation but also, a dynamic growth in creative freedom through such nuances of physical communication. Some dancers even claim that pursuance of these highly configured art has helped them to transform into a true human and has also built up the confidence and moral values in their minds and spirits.

Other than the classical dance forms, Yoga - the art of living, is also quite trending in the West. According to the statusquo, more than 60% of foreigners engage themselves in yoga, to warm up their bodies in the mornings. It not only helps in feeling fresh and pure but also keeps a check on the other diseases like diabetes from attacking the immune system. Also, it makes oneself pure and sublime in nature. Meditation is also a vital part in the art of Yoga which helps oneself to communicate to the spiritual power and liberalize the mind from all pessimistic thoughts.

Jasmine flowers

In South India, especially in places like Coimbatore of Tamil Nadu district and Bangalore, also known as the "Garden city", in the district of Karnataka are renowned for Jasmine and Marigold Flowers. The Foreigners who visit South India return with a bunch of flower garlands adorned on their hair, especially the females. Flowers are an inevitable part in Indian society especially for Hindus during the performance of religious rituals and obligations. We could also witness number of foreigners being a part of the exuberant festivals in India. The most exciting part is that, even after returning to their native places, some clans of foreign natives visit India in order to purchase the flowers if found necessary. But, most of the desi (slang used to describe typical Indian females) girls abstain from wearing thick strands of flower garlands on their hair. This is another aspect that shows how the non Indians are adopting the Indian ways of living.

The traditional attire "Saree"

Sari is international. Yes, the foreigners love fiddling with the six yards long cloth and the happiness they gain can be judged by the broad smiles on their faces. The musty look of Jeans and Top has made them switch to sari which they, now, often use, especially during auspicious occassions. Aesthetically, a woman draped in sari, is more beautiful than a woman dressed in any other way. Over the years, more and more sari shops have cropped up in the West due to the growing demand for it. But for most of the Indians, it's still hard to believe that foreigners can drape sari better than Indians and to substantiate it; it's just because we had been considering sari as our own traditional attire which maintains our culture and ethnicity from the very day one learns about Indian history. Most of the visiters, purchase expensive saris like Kanchipuram Saris, Benaras silk saris etc as souvenirs from India by paying huge price. That itself indicates how adorable to them is India's dressing sense. Some of them even become dazzling divas by draping saris around them in the Western red carpet.
Also, the tradition of putting "Mehendi" over both the hands is also remarkable in Indian context. It is mainly during wedding ceremonies or other such occassions that women embellish their hands with henna tattoos.

The flavors of India

India, as we know, is a land of spices. Tangy, sweet, sour, bitter, spicy and hot dishes fill the plates of Indian restaurants. A mere smell is enough for us to burn our tummies with hunger. The most famous South Indian dishes are "Dosa", "Idly", "Vada","Sadhya" and various biriyanis like Hyderabadi Chicken Biriyani which almost all the foreigners would love to savour.

Some of them are prepared by utilizing the traditional stoves and kerosene rather than LPG cylinders. One of the famous and favourite of the dishes are "Karimeen Pollichathu" which is exclusively available in parts of Kerala, to be precise, the best ones are in the parts of Alappuzha district which is known for the backwaters and lagoons. The typical toddy shops also are great kitchens for the desi recipes. The foreigners enjoy Indian food to the fullest and another thing that excites me is that some of them even jot down the recipes and try them at their native places especially, the ones who own restaurants out there in their country.

Another point that must be brought to light is that the typical "Chaat Centres" seen nation wide emanate more flavours into the mouth of a foreigner. They are the centres from where you get a mixture of all the flavours added over. They are some of the finest ventures which earn money now a days and fascinates most of the people across the nation.

Live Green and Stay Green

We all hear of chopping down of trees and Industrialization etc in our everyday life. Kerala, God's own country is the best example for conservation of its greenery and charm. Hence, a huge number of foreigners flow to Kerala in order to inhale the pure air and live in peaceful surroundings for quite a few days. Perhaps, they even rely on one of the ancient medical practices of Ayurveda and carry medicinal plants with them. Some of the foreigners have also succeeded by opening Ayurveda Centres in the West. A sound mind in a sound body is the ethos they believe in. Adopting such traditional Indian lifestyle has, proven to improve their lifespans by 2%.

Some of them even resort to eco friendly places and ashramas mainly in the northern part of India.

Indian Religions and other related aspects

As I mentioned earlier, India is a land of multitude of religions like Hinduism, Christianity, Islamism, Sikhism, Jainism, Buddhism etc. Many of the Whites visit India to taste the festivals that take place in connection with the various auspicious days of all these above mentioned strata. Some of the famous ceremonies like Holi, Diwali, Pushkar Mela, Durga Puja, Holla Mohalla, Kumbh mela etc attract thousands of people from different parts of the world. But the most remarkable part is that as and when the foreigners become a part of the ritual practices, they tend to follow that particular religion due to the huge magnetic force of influence that these rituals have in their lives. ISKCON, KUMBH MELA, etc have received a number of non Indians as ardent disciples of Sri Krishna and other living Gods such as Shirdhi Sai, Oshodhara, Mata Sri Amritanandmayi etc who are believed to be venerated with magical powers which they use for the goodwill of the world.

They take up "Sanyasa" (A Hindu philosophy envisaged by the saints of India) and abstain from any close proximity with the opposite gender. They smother themselves in orange attire which is convicted to be the dress code of many well known saints like "Sankarachaarya".  Some of the natives of France and Italy have also taken up a piece of Earth in the Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry. Many of them, usually, visit India in order to discover more about it but, gradually, they turn out to be an indispensable part. Natives of Germany, France, England, America, Japan, Spain etc. already comprise the saint population in different parts of India.  Thus, Indianization of Western world and vice versa is still continuing at a pace.

The mosaic of languages

There are a number of languages spoken in different parts of the country. Some people, especially, the tribal groups of North Eastern parts have a huge number of variety of languages, each language assigned individually and exclusively to each cluster, alone. Sanskrit, the most ancient and vedic language is regarded as the language spoken by Gods and it is due to this reason that most ancient scriptures like Manusmrithi and the Four Vedas are manuscripted in Sanskrit. The West has set up some unique schools whereby the students are given training to learn Sanskrit. Their perspective of Sanskrit language is highly epic and spiritual. Many of them settle in India to learn Sanskrit and over the years of Sanskritization, the only village that speaks sanskrit is in Mattur, Karnataka. They have also, enthralled themselves in the fantasmagorical stories of Sri Krishna and preachings of Bhagawad gita.

Thus, we could conclude that yes, world is a home in itself. It's just the delay for us to understand that fact which makes people do all kind of violence which can even end up in enormous bloodshed. In Sanskrit, there is a adage which goes like this : "Vasudhaivva Kudumbakam" which means the whole world is my family. Let's hope that may the upcoming generation not witness any mishaps and may anyone in the world be forlorn for any reason. "Lokaa Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu" (May the whole world be happy and comfy and let live in peace and harmony).
